One of the tools I use in my coaching sessions is called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping.
EFT uses gentle a tapping procedure on specific acupuncture points designed to change the way our brain and body respond to stress. However, it’s not just about dealing with surface-level stress: EFT can dig into the deeper emotional baggage that may accompany old experiences or stressful life events.
Scenario: Money Stress
For instance, if you frequently experience stress when thinking about money, it may actually be due to your experiences growing up in a low-income household where lots of fighting occurred. Your body associates those feelings with imminent danger (because, as a child, parents fighting is a sign of danger), and releases adrenaline and cortisol to keep you alert and ready to protect yourself.
The problem is that as an adult trying to manage your finances, you’re not actually in any danger – your body just remembers and thinks you are.
In a coaching scenario, we would “tap” through your memories. The premise of EFT is that as your body starts to release cortisol (the stress hormone) in relation to your experiences, the tapping sends a calming signal to your brain, and reminds your body to relax.
While it’s not possible to provide any guarantees, EFT combined with Matrix Reimprinting (another form of EFT Tapping) can have the remarkable ability to shift even our most persistent emotional patterns “baggage”. It is believed that the brain can be assisted in having a new experience that often brings balance and well-being.
EFT or meridian tapping has been shown to be an effective stress-reducing tool that can easily be used by you in-between sessions for relief from the effects of stress, overwhelm and negative feelings.
The Potential Long-Term Benefits
Eventually, after replaying these events, memories, or even just feelings while tapping together, it’s possible you’ll find that you no longer experience a stress reaction when you think of them on your own.
You can see how beneficial this technique can be when taking some big leaps of faith or scary steps forward: it’s one of the most effective ways I’ve found that can lighten the emotional baggage that often weighs us down.

I’m available for sessions that consist solely of tapping if you’re aware of an event, experience, or emotion you’d like to work through.
However, often the need to tap comes as part of a package, as we talk through your goals and get into what’s really getting in your way.
